Climate of Denial

“What good is it to save the planet if humanity suffers?”

Rex Tillerson, Exxon Mobil CEO

The Broken Brick Initiative is working to create a web-based accountability project focused on climate change policy in the United States.

Advocacy groups, corporations, paid journalists, sympathetic politicians, and reactionary activists continue to question scientific evidence, confuse issues, and sabotage an effective response to the growing climate change disaster.

It’s time to hold people accountable for what they say and what they do. Climate of Denial is a Broken Brick Initiative project to document the names and actions of men and women who work to deny climate change. Through its online forum, Climate of Denial will profile those who stand in the way of responsive public policy.

The Climate of Denial initiative:

  • Tracks climate change deniers, including public officials, business representatives, paid academics, media personalities, and co-opted non-profits.
  • Documents organizations and businesses that fund climate change denial.
  • Explores the links between climate change deniers, funders, and political advocacy groups.
  • Crowd sources the efforts of climate change deniers locally, nationally, and globally.

Like the Institute for Policy Studies’ Right Web initiative, the Climate of Denial forum will combine the best of accountability websites and crowd sourced narratives to ensure the work of climate change deniers does not disappear down the memory hole. When someone asks, ‘Who is responsible?’ Climate of Denial will have at least part of the answer.
